1 Do you feel social media is the place for EMS agencies to
promote tax increases or bond issues that affect the tax revenue from the
community?2 RESPOND to this Students comment. (Jared) The use of social media has definitely changed over the last
5-10 years. Keep in mind, Facebook was originally for specific college
students, now we have entire businesses that are ran almost exclusively from
the social media platform. I think the use to promote taxes or bonds is
acceptable, but this would definitely need to be posted by the PIO with all the
proper approvals. Social media use serves as a cost effective way to inform the
public and disseminate information to the masses. I would also be prepared for
negative comments and have a plan for addressing them. Perhaps hearing what a
tax increase could do for an organization is more effective than a politician
using it to campaign.
